...instant gratification

Otherwise known as Picking-for-Pleasure!
Anybody who grows and adores Berries as much as I do, knows exactly what I'm talking about. That time of the season, when you have picked ~ washed ~ frozen enough berries to last you until next year. You've made so many pies, muffins, crustatos and crumbles that you fear your shorts may burst! BUT, there's still berries on the bushes... Now is the time of the year that I put away the baskets and give myself permission to eat directly from the bushes & my hand. No more washing, sorting and measuring. Just instant gratification! It doesn't get much better than popping 'warmed by the sun' berries directly into your mouth! Eating to your hearts content with no guilt. Living in the moment, so to speak. (But made all the better knowing that there are plenty stored away and waiting for those cold days of Winter when I'm craving a taste of Summer! )

I've never been lucky enough to live anywhere that we had berry bushes so I'm SO jealous! My grandpa had raspberries and sometimes we were lucky enough to visit when they were producing. I still think it's just the neatest thing ever to be able to go pick a handful of berries right off the bush!

What kind of berries are those? They look much darker than regular raspberries but not as big as blackberries. Whatever they are, they look mouth-watering! YUM!
