You all know the old saying "Sometimes, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a Prince. ". OH, how true that has been this week for 'saling'!!
The 'town-wide' sale was going on in the Village where I work, so W-TH-F I went out on my lunch hour and hit a few. As is typical for my previous experience with this 'town-wide' sale, most of the sites were sparse - just a few last minute things, tossed on a card table in the front yard - nothing exciting! Then, just as 'burnout' was setting in on Friday, and I was about to admit defeat - I stumbled upon my 'Prince'!! The elderly 'kids' were cleaning out mom's house and getting rid of her 'junk' - with ridiculously cheap prices!! (WHY, oh WHY hadn't I gone there earlier in the day???). There was so much 'old goodness', I was delirious!! I picked up a great LARGE, handled, blue enamel pan.... $1. - with original tag still on the side of it! The pan made a perfect 'shopping basket', as I started digging through the MANY '5¢ Each' boxes of so-called 'junk'! Soon my pan was filling with... Bennington Mugs, and...
(The three in the front were gathered from the sale to join those in the back that I currently use! L.O.V.E. my Bennington Pottery!!)
Croc charms (Ibbits?), and a vanity lipstick holder, and a sterling perfume bottle pendant, and...
a three-pack of sealed wooden farmer matches, and several old decks of airline playing cards, and an old Raggedy A & A bowl & cup set, and unopened packages of cocktail napkins, and...
A retro psychodelic jigsaw puzzle in the greatest colors (won't the pieces be perfect used in projects?!), and a tiny matchbox 'block' set - complete with cars, person, etc..., and...
retro wrapping paper, and gift bags, and...
a deck of Long John Silver's cards with seriously fun graphics!, and...

Sometimes the little things are the most fun. That is a great pot - I love enamel stuff. It lasts FOREVER!
Great pile of goodies, but I especially like your "shopping basket"! I do the same thing...always grab a commodious item that's for sale, and use as my basket. That enamel ware pot, though, is a beauty all on it's own. *elaine*
I can't even begin to think of words, I would die for that puzzle and the wrapping papers and cards, I wish they had town-wide sales here in Sydney!
really an eye opener for me.
