..."puke path"?!

During these 'short', cold days of Winter, it takes 'little' to amuse me, but I 'think' you may get a chuckle out of some of my recent finds, too!

The fabulous Miss R (my roadtrippin' buddy) joined me on Wednesday for a leisurely breakfast,  some 'errands' and a little Thriftin'. My Wednesday thrifting finds ran the gamut from the 'Usuals' (Part of a Sweater Clip -2015#3, some shell jewelry parts and enamel pins)

To GAME LAND.
NOT a place I venture often, but sometimes you gotta do, what you gotta do. I had never heard of ANY of these games before...

The first game- 1971 'CAREERS' by Parker Bros.
The cover has Seriously Retro 'flower power' graphics - the box was sealed at the edges by 'someones' diligence with clear packing tape.  Thus, I couldn't check out the playing pieces, or actually know 'For.Sure.' what was within.
I came home and carefully sliced the seal.  As I was preparing to lift the cover, my thoughts roamed...
Did a previous owner do this, and even the Thrift has no idea as to the contents?...
Did the Thrift do this to keep a TON of UNIQUE playing pieces from getting pocketed?...
and here's what I found...

A COMPLETE game with fun cards
and
almost .65¢ ! (one penny is Canadian, so technically we can't count that as a full cent.)

The 2nd game 'MixMax' is missing it's dice, but has FUN GRAPHICS!
1982 by: OTTO MAIER VERLAG RAVENSBURG
The third game really had me scratching my head ~ TIPSY LAND!
It has the rules of 'Shutes and Ladders', but instead of a 'shute' there is a 'puke path'.  The final destination 'BAR'.  It does have adorable GLASS shot glasses and a wonderfully graphic GLASS playing board...  But, really?  Mixing this many GLASS objects with intoxicated people can't possibly end good!!!

...WAIT! WE MUST GO BACK IN!

Oh, my POOR 'NEWBIE'...
My POOR, POOR, "DAY TRIPPIN' PARTNER-IN-CRIME"...

I think I may have led her astray this time folks!
HAEGER 2014 #1 ($1.50... after tacky dried flowers were removed!!)

Let me begin again...
COLD, LONG WINTERS begin to call for DESPERATE measures here in the NE!!  When I propositioned a friend and asked her if she would like to join me in my weekly 'STUFF RUN' (okay... yes I did dangle a coffee/chai stop in there too!), she agreed.  I don't think she had ever been to a Thrift before, but what a day we had!!
 FUN! FUN! FUN!
I lost count as to how many we went to ~ SIX maybe??  She was SUCH A GOOD SPORT!  I spotted the seductive dripped glazed Haeger vase in the window of a Shop we had JUST LEFT...  I said, " WAIT! We MUST go back in!

Still not a 'ton-o-good-stuff' to be had at the shops, but I guess that is just as well.  I did find a few goodies though...
Soldering Iron (For Dad's Collection!) $1, Cording for seaglass pendant necklaces $1, Compact (My collection) $1, Vintage enamel pin .80¢, Funky earrings .80¢

AND

2014
#1
#2
#3
in the sweater Clip Category!!!
Sweater ClipsAS FOR  ATTIC STUDIO HAPPENINGS...
'Commisioned' Pedestal for a Friend is almost complete.
We have FINALLY found the pieces/combination that she likes, now I just have to assemble.

Soldering practice continues ((sigh.))
I dream up ideas, but somehow they still don't come out at I envision.
This was an 'Attempt' at combining wire-wrap and solding. ((Sigh))
'Bejeweled' (with Real SeaGlass) vintage sweater clip.  'N' who was helping me with soldering was really 'interested' in my sweater clip collection.  I have heard that she went to an antique store and was VERY Excited to have found and purchased one for herself since I saw her.  She is also into seaglass.  I'm sending this to her as a 'THANK YOU' for her time.
(maybe this is Good Karma, and why 3 found their way to me??  Do you think??)

...breath of FRESH air!!

Is anybody else out there having trouble trying to load photos onto their blogs?
Maybe our lines are 'FROZE' from the BIG CHILL that IS 2014,
or
Maybe it is just operator failure...
no, I think I like my BIG CHILL Theory!

(OUR POOR DINING ROOM BECAME HOLIDAY #@!&  WHILE THINGS WERE SORTED AND PUT TO 'REST' FOR ANOTHER YEAR...)
Being 'Home-bound' for so many days left me with no excuses for not taking down all of our XMAS decorations though....

FINALLY!  All of our toys were put away for another year, and order has come to the land...

Then, the thermomemter ACTUALLY read 23° and it was time to PLAY - OUTSIDE!!
First time with skates on in about 15 years - it wasn't Pretty by any stretch of the imagination - but it was SO.MUCH.FUN!!!
Of course a stop at the Thrift was a MUST!!
I think everybody was thinking the same thing, because pickings were rather slim...
Boggle Game - that I should have checked closer, as it only had 3/4 of it letters and no timer!! (4) metal plate stands .10¢ea, lap-size chalkboard .25¢ , aqua hangar, Pampered Chef mini-whisk NIP .25¢, (2) New packages of candy bags, 'Musical Note' Cookie Cutter .10¢, Jewelry makers magnify glass on stand, couple of 2/14 Magazines from FREE/TRADE rack...
OH, and I can't forget the 'ODD' .50¢ bag of fruit...

I bought it mainly for this beautiful LARGE-rubbery bunch of retro GRAPES

...and these two beaded pieces were
 a nice bonus...
?BUT? Can anyone explain to me THE WHY of
S.I.X. Hard Plastic LEMONS???

NOTHING Earth Shattering, but I am also happy to report that there were NO BROKEN BONES in the SKating re-Debut ;-) !!
...and these two little sweeties REALLY made my heart skip a beat!
I guess I can't use the need for a 'third hand'
as an excuse any more!!

Have you ever seen one in this color before??
I begged the manager at the Thrift to let me buy it!
She really thought that I was nuts!

...take WARNING.

Isn't that how the old saying about 'Pink sky in Morning' goes??
Well, it seems we have been having a LOT of BEAUTIFUL PINK SUNRISES lately... or so they appear on the surface!

I think that there should be a similar WARNING about blogs.
Blogs created by people with LOTS of talent.
Blogs created by people who are terribly organized.
Blogs created by people with wonderful photography skills.
SHOULD NOT BE READ BY THE HIGHLY IMPRESSIONABLE!!

As an avid thrifter, I have been known to start 'picking-up' things at sales because 'they are The HOT ITEM' in blog land...

Everyone KNOWS you can't leave a CHEAP Shiny Brite behind...

TRAIN CASE?!? a 'MUST' that I now can't live without, and before BlogLand I didn't even know they existed!!

~ N O W ~
I have really crossed over to the
DARK SIDE....

Recently I was approached, and asked to be a vendor in a SMALL, Local Fall handmade Farm Market....
and I agreed.

I have never done this before.
I blame YOU Blogland!
(Yes, 'You' KNOW who you are!!)

I am definitely dipping my toes into unknown territory...
The theme to my booth is Upcycling in the FingerLakes of NY.
VERY small show with low foot traffic - good for a newbie!!
(ie: won't need a LOT of product)

Hot-glue gun is clearing out some of the hoards of Shiny Brites as they are made into wreaths!

Trays of recently washed Sea Glass, waiting to be sorted and wire wrapped into pendants...

Hands are never still while road-trippin' or watching
TV, making PLARN Pumpkins (in a FUN new BLACK!!)

...and of course THE. PEDESTALS
~ LOTS of them, all ready to GO!!!

The BIG PROBLEM?
is that I pass by this view from my Attic/Studio window...
I LOVE AUTUMN and I don't want to miss it!!

So, I'm still taking time out for Daytrippin' with Pals to take in the sunshine and sites...

A little MacKenzie-Childs for inspiration

(still experimenting with the new camera)

...and still 'stuffing it' , while the 'stuffing' is good...

VERA 2013 #21 .25¢

Sweater Clip 2013 #13 - seashells & rhinestones $3

Treasures! Treasures! Glass flower frog, Sarah Cov. belt, Girl Scout pins, Josef figures, Aluminum powder music box, glass heart pendant, enamel flower pin, glove clip, purse hook, travel clock, copper butterfly = $4.55 !!
Here is the FINAL (for today) testimony to the power of BLOGS...

I had NEVER held an ANNALEE doll in my hands before (or seen one in person), but while scrounging through a box of ornies at Rummage sale recently, I heard the lady next to me say to her Partner in crime "OH. MY. GOSH!  LOOK. AT. THIS. UGLY! SANTA!"  Just by the tone in her voice, I KNEW it had to be.  I turned my head SO FAST to get a glimpse of what she was referring, then held my breath that neither would take it.
  They didn't.
 I grabbed it.
I checked the tags.
IT WAS!
((It will be going to an E-store soon))

HOPE EVERYONE IS ENJOYING THEIR COUNTDOWN TO ALL-HALLOWED EVE!!

(I will be back with a report after 10/19!)

Consider yourselves
WARNED!
((this could happen to you if you read Blogs!!))

...What would YOU do with all of YOUR time??

Wed. Morning was rainy, but our Angel Trumpet plant still had a blossom, so I took that as a sign that it MUST be a 'DayTrippin' Day!
Met up with my partner in crime...
and we were off!

Destination:
For a morning of wandering around the gardens,

and daydreaming on what life was like before...
Electronics and computer and cellphone,
TV, Facebook and Blogs...
even grocery stores.
AND with a WHOLE staff of servants...

WHAT DID THEY DO WITH THEMSELVES??????

...enjoy the ever changing beauty of the gardens from day to day,  season to season?
...set up their easel and paint to their hearts content?

...find quiet places to meditate, write poems or love letters?
...find secluded spots to read inspiring works by Longfellow and Kafka?

Just walking these grounds I was transformed for a short while.  Maybe, just maybe, this is why I have such a preference for 'stuff that has lived a life prior to me'.  It has soul.  It can speak to us in a way 'new off the shelf' never can.

*** ps.  I keep forgetting to update you on my latest (well, about a month ago...) ~

...the WOG of it all.

Wednesday was a picture perfect day!

I ventured out on a solo roadtrip to meet up with some old friends for an evening of play at a place that I've heard about for Y.E.A.R.S.!!

In preparation for this evening, I had played around with seaglass and worked on my wire wrapping techniques to form each of us 'girls' (old ladies?- no, I'm sticking with Girls!!) a token pendant necklace for the evening..

This was a BIG evening after all!
My First Trip to POLLYWOGG HOLLER ECO-RESORT!!
~No, we didn't pay those OUTRAGEOUS $$ to spend the night, we just went for band & pizza & wine
~YES, I would Definitely recommend it!
~In case you were wondering, those pendants were supposed to be Pollywogs, or WOGS as we so affectionately referred to them!

Thursday morning was another beautiful day for a roadtrip back home,  enhanced by the chance encounter of a couple of 'early-weekend' garage sales!!

...and a little concrete FROG for our garden.  Is that the perfect ending
to a WOG trip, or what?!
