...'politically incorrect' post.

WOW!
How time flies, when you have absolutely N.O.T.H.I.N.G. to write about.
So, as the rest of the world is warming up, and we're NOT...
SWEET,SWEET Train Case & Vintage Coral/Pink Smoke-Infinity scarf found at the last day of an Estate Sale for a whopping total of $2.25!  LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! this scarf!!!!!!
J & I have been going to a few hit or miss (mostly BIG misses!) estate sales.  I Finally attended my first rummage sale of the season on Saturday morning ~ talk about a MOB scene!!!
Picked up a few odds-n-ends for repurposing...

Picked up a few Mid-Century & Retro pieces for resale

and then I found this little .50¢ guy that made me SOO happy!!  My Grandmother started me on an 'old-fashioned' Sterling charm bracelet when I was about 12.  I have made it into a 'journey bracelet' - only adding souvenir charms.  Well, with the popularity of the 'Italian' charm bracelet and 'Pandora' charm bracelet, etc..., etc... - you can't buy the cheap, cheezy little charms on every street corner anymore!!  Needless to say, I've been to Disney twice and didn't have a charm from there - NOW I DO!
It looked like the same person was getting rid of there entire charm bracelet 'collection' - (each bracelet complete w/ charms only .50¢  and all sterling) - so I grabbed them - who knows, I may need South Dakota or Alaska someday ;-)

(MY BRACELET...and YES- there is LOTS of room left!!!!)
~AND~
COULD IT BE??
IS THIS REALLY #1 FOR 2014???

VERA2014#1 $1

The other morning I met up with a friend for breakfast. I showed up wearing my 'newest' favorite scarf.  While chatting she asked if it was one of 'those' infinity scarves....  I said not really because it is vintage, so technically it is a SMOKE RING scarf - but that is too Politically Incorrect for them to be called now.  I told her that I had a few of the 'originals' at home and promise I would do a CLOSET COLLECTION post on them so here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure....

FAYS!!?! I remember them!!

Not sure why you need all of these complicated instructions, when all you have to do is pull it on over your head!!?!

VERA did a few of these - check it out here

Thanks to 'Ms. Tabatha Katt' for being such a Wonderful model ;-)

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL WEEK!!

...BOOZIN' ~ or~ BOSSON it up for ST. PATTY!

"LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE BOY"

LETS GIVE THE BOYS A HAND...

Here is a Fair-Play to 'The Boys' ~ after showing 'The Ladies' closet collection in my life, I thought it only fair to show my closet collection of these fine seafaring Bruts!

I'm not sure if they are all the collectible BOSSONS ~ Made in England, but they do fit in with my Nautical love!

"and Maybe he don't dress fine"
"but I don't really mind"
As with 'The Ladies', they are weathered and scruffy - rather handsome on a Pirate though - EH?!

What is any good journey without a Captain?

Now, go BE SAFE on ST PATTY's DAY!!!

=50° in the SPRING in Central NEW YORK!!
It put me in the mood to do a little SPRING decorating, and I gathered another tiny 'closet collection' of LADY HEAD VASES.  (You may have noticed one in my last post, that I had put some leftover flowers from My V-day bouquet...  I gathered her Sisters to join her!!)

**Yes, 'The Girls' are all 'Less-than-Perfect' w/ their cracks, flaking cold paint, chipped lashes, missing gems - but hey, aren't we all?!  Besides, that was how I was able to get them 'on-the-cheap'!!  Strategically placed flowers do WONDERS for broken fingers!

The time change even allowed J & I a leisurely trip to our favorite seaglass beach along the shores of the FingerLakes to see what this looonngg Winter had produced!!

There may even be a 'prize'.
It may be a BIG-FAT-COOLER of SNOW
but...
a 'prize'
just the same ;-)

In the words of Don Henley:Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
 The summer's out of reach

Empty lake,
 empty streets
The sun goes down alone

OH, Mother Nature, you DO have a cruel, cruel sense of humor!!
Do you think the dried sage that I put in Miss Turq's bonnet will help the situation??

HAIR?!

Bavaria 'Hair Receiver' .50¢
or should I say... 'HAIR RECEIVER'!!

J was rather grossed.  My 'Daytrippin Buddy' was rather grossed last summer when we came upon an exhibit of these little beauts at one of our stops... but guess what?!  It is but yet ANOTHER of my 'closet collections'.
Hmmm... 'Closet Collector' - all kinds of BAD associations with that term, but I Really kind of like it for some reason!!   But, I digress, back to Hair receivers.

Here is what WIKAPEDIA has to say:
A hair receiver is a small pot, with a hole in the lid, kept on the dressing table in the Victorian era to store hair removed from brushes and combs. The hair was recycled in a number of ways—notably for stuffing small bags, about 8–10 centimetres (3–4 in) across, called ratts, used to bulk out women's hairstyles. Human hair was also used for stuffing pincushions and small furnishing cushions.
It was often paired with a matching trinket box or a powder jar or as part of a dressing table set, made mainly from porcelain, though glass, metal, and celluloid were also used.

Or this magazine article has a more indepth article if you are truly interested ;-)
And now, may I present a bit of MY tiny 'HAIR RECEIVER' collection (NO! it doesn't really live in a closet - that was just a figure of speech... it actually has a corner of a shelf all of it's own... on a bookshelf... on the second floor... at the end of the hall...). .

Oh, and there IS another
tucked in amongst some hatpins
DOWNSTAIRS...
