...SUSTAINABILITY?

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but one of my favorite parts of this whole addicting, craziness of 'STUFF ACQUIRING' is the Research and Learning involved! (One of my 'intentions for 2019'' is to make these 'useless tidbits of information' a more prominent part of this blog - what do YOU think? Yeh or Neh?)
Recently I have been finding EVO SUSTAINABLE GOODS dishes - at random times, in random locations -
mere coincidence? (if there is such a thing!!)
It doesn't seem to have much of a demand in the resale market, which is too bad - for a couple of reasons.
'The concept of sustainability is what sparked the creation of the EVO Sustainable Goods brand, the manufacturer of EVO Housewares. By combining wood and plastic into a single raw material, the benefits of both were united, and the WPC compound was formed, creating a substantially reduced impact on the environment.'

They are BPA free, Microwave and Dishwasher safe, and they come in FUN colors - what more can you ask for??

When researching 'sustainable goods' I can't help but wonder what kind of world our 'littles' will inherit (and NO I'm not even going to touch-upon the political state!!)…

You may remember a post where I mentioned my Niece's 'Nacho Average Baby Shower'...  well, this Grand-Auntie has a new Love in her life!  Meet Miss V.
While I was putting a collage frame together for a Christmas present, I asked my niece for "that picture of V 'Hugging the Tree' "...

...Little did I know what a 'literal' Tree-Hugger she is growing up to be!!  I've never had a child, but knowing how precious this 'little' is, I can't imagine how Anyone with their own children could not want to preserve or improve our world in any way they are capable!!

With that said, Time for a Shiny NEW Year full of possibilities ~ 2019!!  Does everyone have their 'resolutions' (or 'intentions' as I prefer to call the them!!) ready to start the New Year off with?  I would love to hear them - Please Comment with your Top 3!
I'll start (not in any particular order)...
~Deplete some of our 'Death Piles' (ie: 'inventory' waiting to be acted upon.)
~Flex the right side of my brain a little every day and get to CREATING!  Do 'Me' my way.
~Be more present in every Day and appreciate what life has given me.

Wishing you all the BEST in the New Year,
Be Safe, Be Well
and
enJOY!!

Go rub the belly of your favorite Laughing Buddha for
Abundance, Prosperity and Contentment!!

... every once in a while

You stumble upon a new 'piece', 'tidbit of info', or a 'photo' that renews a Passion ~ be it for a craft, hobbie or a collection.

Diana at ADIRONDACK GIRL @ HEART did just that for me this morning with this quote on her blog:

"People want to feel or express emotions in their clothes and furnishings.A bland cocoon is a dull existence."
 ~Vera Neumann
That resonated and made my day!
THANK YOU so much Diana!!

VERA.

From dishware...

to linens...

The colorways.

The Lines.

...and THANK YOU so much - sweet BlogFriends who help keep the 'spark' alive!!!
Hoping EVERYONE's day is off to as great of a start as mine!!!

(just in case you haven't had enough VERA to hold you over...https://www.pinterest.com/sveltestuff/vera-neumann/)

...one fire at a time

Do you ever feel like you are sooooo far behind.... On EVERYTHING???
We skipped 'the saling' this weekend, in favor of SPRING GARDENING!

The Berry Beds were LONG OVERDUE!!

...One fire out.

Then there were those bookcases that I mentioned in a previous post ~

One down, One to go...

Painted, positioned and stocked!!
...another fire under control.

It hasn't been ALL PRODUCTIVITY for me though!
An old friend recently called, he had cleaned out his storage unit and come across 'some jewelry', his Mom used to 'sell' at a NYC flea market back in the Late 70's- early80's.  He knew I liked to craft with 'junk' - did I want any of it??
Silly Question.

There was well Over 250+ pieces!!

Most of it by 'Jeffrey Lawrence' for Lawrence-Bentley.
I've been trying to research a bit - not much luck...

It is sort of what I imagine Pier1 in India would stock!!

THAT'S IT for TODAY - hope to be back soon with something more interesting to show you!!

...the learning curve of OLD DOGS.

I F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. broke out of our house on Tuesday, and hit some Thrifts!  The Bright thing was out in the sky (I think they call it 'The Sun'?)!  The thermometer had TWO numbers on it - it was a Glorious day!!
Didn't purchase much, but Oh how GOOD it felt to be back...
The Thrifts were kinda sparse - I think that they are trying to clear out some Winter things, in preparation for New Spring things.  I hate to tell them, but they have PLENTY of time until SPRING!!

One Thrift was doing a special Clothing Bag Sale - $3.00 .
While I was checking out the Clothing, to see if I should even bother getting a bag, I noticed these velvet(?) covered- thin hangers.  I have LONG been 'anti-DryCleanerMetal hangers', and have gradually phased them out of our closets and replaced with cool vintage advertising WOODEN hangers.  A friend gave me a package of the 'velvet' hangers for Christmas.  NOT Liking them at first, I gave in and gave them a try.  They are kinda growing on me.  In our ongoing 'Battle of The Closet', I am starting to incorporate these 'velvet' hangers (replacing cheap plastic hangers).  They are 'anti-slip' and take up Way-Less space!!
(...maybe you CAN teach old Dogs NEW tricks?!)

While soaking in all the therapy of Thrifting...  a rack of Men's neckties caught my attention.  J & I have been brainstorming of ways to make On-line sales more profitable (since I'm still unemployed, something needs to 'Step-up'!!)...  Better pricing? Different pictures?  Niche' market?  Throw in the towel?
Hey, why not try some retro/vintage 'novelty neckties' ?
You GOTTA Love a subtle Disney POOH!

...or maybe there is a Dog Lover
in search of ?Pomeranians?
(Not sure of Breed, so if anybody
can offer any help...)

...and "HEY!  Let's go BOWLING!"

I did find a few smalls...  metal cookie cutters and a FUN LeSportsac...

and this MADE in JAPAN, Large scrapbook ~ New-Never-been-used condition with a lacquered/inlaid cover.

I've never seen any thing quite like it.  I like the inlaid ?abalone? on the roof!

This 'Old Dog' is probably 'Late coming to the Party', but I am intrigued by this accidental discovery...
Did YOU know, that two identical shaped vintage metal cookie cutters (of different styles), will FIT-TOGETHER perfectly?  Kind of like a 'box' with a 'lid'...  hmmmm, there must be something USEFUL that can come of this!!  Any ideas??

...turn...turn...turn...

JANUARY is gone(!) and FEBRUARY is well underway!
Time Flies.
I've had the privilege for the last week to get to spend MANY HOURS out of doors!
...thinking
and
...reflecting...

AT SUNRISE: "Go DO it!"
AT SUNSET: 'Appreciate this very moment for everything you have and love in Life.  There will never be another 'exactly' the same.'

...HAEGER tour!

This post is NOT for the faint of heart
...faint of HAEGER Pottery heart that is!

I hope I don't put Anyone on OVERLOAD - but you have been WARNED!!
Over the years I've squealed with joy over random HAEGER finds/gifts, but I have never given you the FULL.HOUSE.tour.
Are you ready?
Here goes...
PLEASE forgive the dust & clutter (but I DO collect a 'few' things other than HAEGER - ha,ha!!)

Entering through our KITCHEN, you will find just a few select Red/Black pieces scattered about (They don't all normally live in the Middle of our countertop - they were gathered here for photo purposes only!)

Through the doorway to the DINING ROOM: Our dining room is done in MCM hand-me-down furnishings, and our china cabinet houses some of my fav's.!

and a built-in corner of the Dining Room
Throughout, the HAEGER is put to use holding odds-ends.  This area is home to a LOT of Seaglass and Shells!!

We played around for a l-o-n-g time on the 'best' way to group/display our vast array of Haeger...
Some things we group 'like-shapes' together, but for the most part we are grouping pieces according to glaze / color... but it is ever changing!

A couple of shelves in our 'COMPUTER ROOM'...

This shelf is a bit of  HAEGER, VERA (plates & airplanes) and BENNINGTON -

Our FRONT HALL is probably 'changed up' most frequently - right now it is home to aqua's in a 'seaside' theme...
VERA linens and HAEGER accent each other quite well!!

Not much of a vignette, but Love the Lady Bug and the Lady!!

 In the TV ROOM:

is our Mauve Agate Collection

...and our Gold Tweed!
Can you find 'TWEED' (Our Elf)??

This room is fondly called THE HAEGER ROOM.  Can you guess why?

Extra Oak house-trim pieces have been used to create Ceiling height shelves around the room!
 Onto the GUEST ROOM:
Rather 'tucked away', this is home to our plain 'Garden House Variety' of whites...

You have probably noticed throughout, our pension for using multi-plate racks to display HAEGER's Numerous atomic dishes and ashtrays!

Even the ATTIC STUDIO has it's share of shelves, home to more of our 'less-favored, but can't part with' pieces!

Yes, it is a sickness, this HAEGER LOVE.
When I first started collecting & learning about HAEGER, I picked up ANY piece I found on 'the cheap'.  I've grown away from the simple Garden House designs and don't buy them anymore (well, not as much!)  ~BUT~ still have a diverse love of the variety of glazes and figures... and HAEGER made a LOT!
