...when passions meet in April SUNSHINE

This is what I'm talking about...

The sun has been shining in CNY, and the days are warming a bit.  EVERYONE wants to be outside!  Garage/Yard Sales are still sparse, I spend my 'down' time snooping through dumpsters and Gardening!
This past week I had a MAJOR 'Dive' SCORE of SIX (6!) pots of Easter Mini-Daffodils.  While they are past their 'BEST BY:' for this year, the bulbs planted in our garden will flourish in the future!!
Since I had been 'bit' by the Spring Gardening Bug, I gathered up a batch of seed packets (flower, herb & veggie!) that I had rescued from a discarded display last Fall (2020).  I am still trying to decide what to do with the stack of New Gathering Buckets I recently dove.  Tall, Skinny, WaterTight...  Any Ideas??
I then ventured to our basement & garage to gather an array of 'Potting Vessels', which will later be divested around our gardens!  While doing this I came across a 20# bag of potting soil that I had forgotten about (or should I say a Large grey tote, holding the contents of a 20# bag of potting soil)...  Isn't it silly that a Bag of Dirt 'has' to be tossed if it gets a little slit in the bag??!

~FOUR pots of Canna Lily bulbs.  As a general rule, I plant NO bulbs that require attention EVERY change of season (gladiolus, dahlias, etc...)!  However, every rule has it's exceptions!  My Father had an affinity for Canna Lilies.  He left a LARGE legacy of Canna Lily bulbs!  Several members of our family are now trying to learn the art of growing these fickle plants.  We've potted them - it's up to you now Dad!
~ My 'growing plants from seeds' ability isn't exactly stellar, but in the Spring it always 'Sparks JOY' (lol!!).  So, amongst the pots are 'CILANTRO', 'BASIL', 'ROSEMARY', 'CHILI PEPPERS" and 'PANSIES"

~AND~
The Easter Daffodils are all tucked in their new homes, trying to give us a little love by opening a fresh new blossom or two before they call it quits for 2021!

enJOY
be well!

...S & J

GOOD MORNING!
The sun is FINALLY shining in Central NY!
Temps in the 60's (today)!
Life is GOOD!

I forgot to post Our favorite 'find' from the night Rummage Sale last week...   The first thing that J spotted ((and grabbed)) were Two 24" wood letters.  They ONLY had two of them - or else we would have taken them all, but isn't it Ironic - and FUN, that the two they had were an 'S' and a 'J'?!!

I'm trying something different (ie: 'playing around') with my blog photos and layout, so bare with me...

The last couple of weeks have been a plethora of sales - Estate & Rummage!  We have had some FUN FINDS and some FUN ROADTRIPS in the process.  Here are some of the 'goods':

An old metal dust pan
...just waiting to be given a little TLC.
I've been wanting one of these for a while!

LOST ANGEL BOWL - $6.95
Pretty good 'chance' find!  Check this final sale price!

CUTCO Knife Block ($1)
AMETHYST GumDrop Tree!

S&P 'Tree' -
BUTTERFLIES!!!!
Retro-Resin MUSHROOM!

MacKenzie CHILDS mug ($1)

and J's favorite 'quarter' find, a
"Hawaiian
Village" GOOD LUCK tiki glass/mug!
NIP #60 Serta Sheep

We were recently the recipients of our FIRST FreeCycle item:
... a white Cheapo-but-functional 6't x 2'w 'book case'!
and, enroute to pick it up, I garbage picked a similar size in 'wood tone'!!

Now, shelving is a 'hot commodity' - always the FIRST thing scarfed up at any sale!!  To get TWO - free for the taking and TLC, was a shear stroke of LUCK!!
The 'wood-grain' one is getting some paint and a sprucing - then headed to our new 'booth'.  The white one will be getting some paint, then I have plans for it at our house!  I will show photos as this materializes!

Hey, it's almost Friday...  and you know what that means!!!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
and
HAVE FUN!

...what to do...what to do?!

I'm still here!
Just been enjoying the out-of-doors more than doing time on the computer ~
Farmer's Almanac says that this winter is going to be worse than last year's,
...so we better enjoy it while we can!!

While J & I were out for our evening walk the other day, I came across the 'droppings' of a Large Oak Tree ~

NO! I am not trying to squirrel these things away for the looonng Winter, but I couldn't resist gathering a 'pocket' full and bringing them home...
But, NOW WHAT TO DO with them?  I baked them already to destroy any 'unwanted guests', I've spraypainted a few to make into pendants...  ANYONE out there have any suggestions??

It's definitely looking like 'the.end.of.summer' in the gardens...

Harvesting of the lanterns is just about a full-time job (in between rain!!)

I guess before we know it, it REALLY will be Fall

I'm 'almost' getting a little excited about it ;-)

...back to the garden!

I did finally make it into the 'studio' on Sunday ~ OH, what a nasty massacre that was!!  Soldering still alludes me ((SIGH))...
I.
WILL.
NOT.
GIVE.
UP!

I did complete' two pieces ~ but NO EVIDENCE is going to be put onto this blog!!  Instead we are going to put PRETTY PICTURES of today's happy place 8-)

The Garden.
Where I can transform a pile of weeds
(aka: JAPANESE LANTERNS)...
...Into a BEAUTIFUL FALL BOUQUET!!

LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GARDEN!!

...sorry sales, step aside ~

IT'S MULBERRY TIME!!

First harvest from our tiny tree yielded TWO large industrial metal mixing bowls F.U.L.L.!!  (Yes, we did end up giving half away!).  There is LOTS more to come, too!

*For those not familiar with Mulberries, they are simple to harvest, just lay a large sheet down under a branch and shake - the ripe ones drop off!  Move sheet, Repeat...  Move sheet, Repeat... NO THORNS!!  Just have to sort and cull the 'droppings'.*
It has always been a struggle to beat the birds, squirrels and rain ~ but this year we learned that there are others who are also VERY FOND of the little morsels!

We watched this lady for about 40 minutes - J with his Canon, I with the spotlight - as she happily munched on the dropped berries we had left behind!

...sunshiny Monday ~ kinda.

Lovely weekend, spent transporting my parents for a 'long-weekend visit' to my brother's family and their newly built home AND of course a celebration of Father's Day!

While there, we even managed to sneak out for a few garage sales Saturday morning...
VERA 2013 silk #16 ($1)

VERA 2013 silk #17 ($1)
Upon return on Sunday night, I felt refreshed, and inspired as only a 'change in scenery' can do for the soul...
This morning, 'THE RAINS' stopped for a period and the sun actually shone!!!  The gardens are in a stage of pure bliss...
...just one side of our lawn border of roses...

...quantities of mulberries, the likes of which I have never before seen on our 'little' tree!

The 'Wine & HERB BED' with it's New Wine Bottle Tree (compliments of My Dad's handiwork!!~THANKS DAD!)

...and for dinner tonight we had Grilled Chix w/ a side of Garden stir fry Bok Choy & Scapes!!

...and now it is raining again.

...taking a moment.

I had a L-O-N-G (ER) post, full of 'treasures'! and journeys! and garden adventures! from this past weekend all ready to share, but in light of what has happened in Oklahoma... I guess that it all kind of puts things into perspective ~ sorry if this post is a little 'lack-luster'.
LOTs of weekend treasures (for a change!) - ranging from the USEFUL (a few small wallets/change purses - including a Fossil .25¢  and a selection of Hallmark/BlueRidge NEW Greeting Cards selected from a HUGE assortment - 4/$1.00)

Some 'crafty supplies' - probably headed for an ETSY store near you - aren't the mini dominoes adorable? (The larger ones are regular size, and they are all made of some sort of old glass-type material?!)

Of Course. Some 'Bling' for me.

and some 'Bling' purchased just for the chains/cords to use on my wire wrapped pendants!

and what would saling be without ~

VERA 2013 #13 $1.00

VERA 2013#14 .50¢

and,
but what's this 'BUTT UGLY bouquet of flowers?' you ask?
J found it at a sale.
VERY proud of himself.
I was kinda smitten too. B-)

ROYAL HAEGER 2013 #2 $2
Knowing that we had her little sister sitting home on the Dining Room buffet!

...then the rest of the weekend was spent
taming the wildness that has become our gardens!
(GOOD-BYE Old Tree Stump!!)

...now I just reflect on how 'silly' all of this 'stuff/junk' is in comparison to what is truly important in this life.
